Job Description 

Coordinates and advises a diverse population of students in regards to their academic planning and progress by utilizing professional guidance skills for the College of Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy program. Interprets and explains University of Utah academic policy and procedure to assist students in making decisions concerning personal educational goals leading to graduation.

  • Meets with students to provide information and guidance on education-­related issues, such as pre-­requisites, clerkship scheduling, graduation requirements, exceptions and registration, and transfer credit evaluation/substitution among others. Keeps records as needed of discussions and actions taken by students and staff/faculty
  • Facilitates students’ academic progress by evaluating their needs and schedules. Makes appropriate referrals to University and College resources for students who need assistance with overcoming learning obstacles, specialized tutoring, personal and academic counseling, extended or intensive assistance with career decisions or similar needs in concert with the Student Services Manager. Keeps records as needed of discussions and actions taken by students and staff/faculty
  • Develops and presents information about programs to students designed to supplement or enhance academic preparedness
  • Coordinates and participates in the orientation and training of students regarding the requirements and scheduling of courses
  • Prepares records and maintains files on all activities relating to student and academic programs; provides student folders with appropriate letters, minutes and forms as needed in concert with the Student Services Manager
  • Serves on University committees, as available, and as staff to College committees and makes recommendations that affect curriculum requirements, advising processes and program development and published materials
  • Performs clerical support, as needed, including scheduling appointments, participating in staff meetings and College Committee meetings, transcribing minutes, responding to phone calls, and typing correspondence
  • Assist as needed with admissions processes including Graduate School application tracking and file review
  • Provide backup support for pre-­Pharmacy advising walk-­‐ins
  • Plans and coordinates the White Coat recording and monitoring all expenditures and maintaining careful budgeting guidelines. Provide excellent entrance events for students
  • Coordinates locker clean out/locker assignment, mailbox assignment/organization
