Pharmacy Intern
AcuPharm Pharmacy

AcuPharm Pharmacy here in Taylorsville (about 15-20 minutes from campus) is looking to hire an incoming P1. If you already have your tech license you can start right away, otherwise you can start as soon as you have your intern license. AcuPharm Pharmacy is an independent closed-door, long-term care pharmacy that provides a variety of services to assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and rehab centers. Along with the usual technician responsibilities, your job would include compounding some creams and IV medications, taking prescriptions and transfers over the phone, preparing emergency medication kits for facilities, and working with other providers to ensure the best care possible for our patients. It is a unique and growing fieldthat is not well-known to many in the pharmacy world.

I have worked here for over a year now and love it. The hours and flexibility are perfect for a student. The work environment is great and the people are even better. The position would be from 12-20 hours a week depending on how much you wanted to work, including shifts during the week (no later than 7:30pm), alternating Saturdays (10-4), no Sundays, and 1 or 2 national holidays a year (never Christmas, Thanksgiving, or New Years). Working is a great opportunity to reinforce what you are learning in school, and AcuPharm provides a great way to learn and grow as you complete your education.

Please or email or call my pharmacists with any questions or interest. Trust me, you won't regret looking into it! My pharmacists are Brenton McDonough (brentonm@wslm.biz) and Colby Hancock (colbyh@wslm.biz) and our pharmacy phone number is 801-456-4505, again ask for Brenton or Colby.

Pharmacy Interns

University Neuropsychiatric Institute (UNI)

There are a couple job openings for pharmacy interns at UNI (University Neuropsychiatric Institute). Students in any school year may apply. The job will be weekday nights from around 5-10 and Saturdays 9-5; a perfect job to have during school. Each intern will probably be working two shifts a week. UNI’s pharmacy deals with out- and inpatients so you will get a lot of exposure to a wide range of experiences. We help out the pharmacists with med recs and other projects and the technicians with general outpatient and inpatient responsibilities. UNI is a psychiatric hospital so the population is very unique. Twice a week we teach a medication education group to the adult and detox units. This is a unique opportunity and a place to learn a lot just from the patients’ questions. As interns we also have a lot of opportunities to do extra projects that will look great on a CV. We are looking to present a poster at the CPNP meeting next spring and are always open for more ideas to do any type of project you are interested in. It’s a job with great hours, great environment, and awesome people to work with. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to shoot me an email.

To apply go to http://healthcare.utah.edu/careers/ and click on “Search Jobs” in the top right corner. Then type in “UNI” for the keyword. The job is listed as “Pharmacy Internship-UNI pharmacy, PRN hours”. Requisition number 20910.
