Profile

Jim Ruble is an Associate Professor (Clinical) in the Department of Pharmacotherapy.  He provides instruction to pharmacy students and graduate students in pharmaceutical compounding, pharmacy law, and health care ethics.  Jim has experience in many areas of pharmacy practice, including neuroscience, pediatrics, drug information, IV admixture/sterile compounding, chronic disease management/hemophilia, ambulatory care, home infusion/hospice, adult acute care medicine, adult critical care medicine, poison control, and hospital distribution pharmacy.  Jim also has experience as a pharmacy manager.  Jim has a legal education and provided legal counseling in intellectual property law, health care law, and tort law for several years.  Jim is a member of the Utah Bar and is also admitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office Bar.  He chairs the Hospital Ethics Committee at the University of Utah Health Care System.  Jim has numerous recognitions for teaching excellence, including the College of Pharmacy Distinguished Teaching Award 2011 and 2014, Daniels Fund-David Eccles School of Business 2014 Award for Leadership in Ethics Education and the Hinckley Institute 2015 Outstanding Professor Award.
