Tara Buzinski Awarded National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship

Third-year Ph.D. student Tara Buzinski (Kramer lab) and was recently awarded an National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. Her thesis research focuses on the development of antifreeze polypeptides, from their design and synthesis to their characterization and application. 

The purpose of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is to help ensure the quality, vitality, and strength of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States. The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing full-time research-based master's and doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) or in STEM education.

Tara shared, “being awarded the Graduate Research Fellowship is recognition from the National Science Foundation that my research is important to the advancement of science – and beyond, to areas such as human health and food storage. I am ecstatic to continue my Ph.D. with the support of the GRF, and I look forward to sharing my materials and results with the wider scientific community.”
