Graduate Student Jared Seale Awarded AFPE Pre-Doctoral Fellowship
Ph.D. candidate Jared Seale has been awarded an American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE) Pre-Doctoral Fellowship in Pharmaceutical Sciences for the 2025–2026 academic year. The AFPE fellowship supports exceptional graduate students whose research has the potential to advance patient and public health.
Jared’s funded project, titled “Structural Insights for Drugs Modulating Voltage-Gated Potassium Channels,” explores how the structure of a neuroactive metabolite derived from tunicates affects its ion channel preferences. This work aims to uncover new strategies for treating neuropathic pain through non-addictive therapeutic targets.
