Nitish Khurana Awarded Philanthropic Partners Grant

Dr. Nitish Khurana has been awarded a one-year, $75,000 Philanthropic Partners Grant for his innovative research on improving drug dosing in patients supported by extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). In collaboration with Dr. Hamid Ghandehari and Dr. Kevin Watt (Chief, Division of Clinical Pharmacology), Dr. Khurana is developing an ECMO oxygenator mimic designed to study drug adsorption in ECMO circuits. This will help accelerate drug testing to establish evidence-based dosing guidelines for ECMO patients.

Dr. Khurana was one of six investigators from the University selected to deliver a five-minute “Shark Tank”-style pitch to leading philanthropic donors at the University of Utah. His proposal was selected for funding, recognizing both the translational potential and the clinical impact of this work.

Congratulations for this recognition, and exciting funding!
