Nitish Khurana Recognized as NCI DCP Early Career Scientist

Dr. Nitish Khurana was been selected as a Division of Cancer Prevention (DCP) Early Career Scientist by the National Cancer Institute. This recognition invites promising early career researchers in cancer prevention to share their work with the broader NCI community.

Dr. Khurana will present his research, Enhancing Surgical Precision in Head and Neck Cancer through Fluorescence-Guided Imaging,” to the NCI community, and meet with DCP and NCI staff to build collaborative relationships. His research focuses on developing advanced fluorescence-guided imaging strategies using indocyanine green (ICG) to improve surgical precision in head and neck cancers. His work aims to enhance intraoperative tumor visualization and margin detection, enabling more accurate and complete resections in image-guided surgery.

He shared, “I’m deeply honored to receive this recognition from the NCI Division of Cancer Prevention, as it highlights the translational impact of our work in advancing fluorescence-guided surgery. This opportunity represents an important milestone in my career, allowing me to further connect laboratory innovation with clinical application and national cancer prevention goals. It also provides a valuable platform to expand my network within the NCI community, fostering new collaborations that can accelerate the clinical translation of our research.”

Congratulations on this recognition, and for representing the Department of Molecular Pharmaceutics!
