Research Interests

  • Population health and continuous quality improvement for hypertension and diabetes
  • Medication safety in the ambulatory care setting - particularly in pain management, and diabetes
  • Scholarship of teaching and learning as it relates to family medicine residents and pharmacy students and residents
  • Women's and Men's Health, Care of Transgender Patients

Dr. Gunning received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Utah and completed a postgraduate residency in Family Medicine at the University of Washington. She is a Professor (Clinical) of Pharmacotherapy, Associate Dean of Community Engagement, Adjunct Professor of Family and Preventive Medicine, and clinical Pharmacist for the Family Medicine Residency Program at the University of Utah Health. She is also one of the Ombuds for University of Utah Health Sciences and is the Residency Program Director for the PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency at University of Utah Health
