Overview

The George S. and Delores Doré Eccles Foundation is dedicated to serving the people of Utah by providing funding for arts and culture, community, education, health and wellness, and preservation and conservation. The foundation was established in 1958 by George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles and continues to impact the development of Utah’s cultural and intellectual resources while also helping people in need statewide. The founders were passionate about creating the highest quality educational opportunities for future generations of Utah’s students.  

George Eccles was chairman and CEO of First Security Corporation, now known as Wells Fargo, the nation’s first operating bank holding company and first multi-state banking institution. During their 57 years of marriage, the Eccles donated generously to statewide causes for the betterment of Utah. After George’s passing, Dolores continued their foundation's mission with devotion to strengthening their state's economic and cultural spirit.
