  • February 28, 2025: Tianxiao Zhange received the Best Poster Award at 19th  International Symposium on Recent Advances in Drug Delivery Systems in Salt Lake City, Utah. His poster title is “Recombinant Anti-PD-1 Immunotoxin (PD-1 DIT) for Autoimmune Disease Treatment”. Received. The award is conferred by Elsevier Publisher and Journal of Nanobiotechnology.
  • December 8th, 2024: Dr. Chen and his collaborator, Dr. Cameron Metcalf were recognized by the Cure Epilepsy organization for the CURE Epilespy Award at the American Epilepsy Society annual meeting in Los Angeles.
  • Novenber 5th, 2024: Dr. Shuyun Dong presented the team’s research on the development of type-1 diabetes therapy at the 20th Immunology of Diabetes Society (IDS) congress in Bruggs, Belgium.
  • November 4, 2024: Lauren and the lab published a new paper online: “Bispecific killer engager for targeted depletion of PD-1 positive lymphocytes: a new avenue for autoimmune disease treatment” in Acta Pharmaceutics Sinica B.
  • June 26, 2024: Lauren received the Kuramoto Graduate Research Fellowship.
  • June 1, 2024: Lauren was appointed to the Neuroimmunology Training Grant (NITG T32) overseen by Drs. Karen Wilcox and Dean Tantin to enhance training in the dynamic fields of neuroscience, autoimmunity, and CNS inflammation.
  • April 23, 2024: Lauren received the University of Utah Graduate Research Fellowship
  • January 26, 2024. Tainxiao passed his PhD qualifying exam! A major milestone in his career.
  • November 20, 2023. Lauren was elected by the department to apply for the AFPE fellowship and the University Graduate Research Fellowship.
  • November 17, 2023. Our research has ventured into uncharted territory as we delve into the examination of immune cells within the brain tissues of epilepsy patients.
  • New Funding! July 2023. In partnership with Dr. Karen Wilcox (Pharmacology And Toxicology), Dr. Sixiang Shi (Radiology), Dr. Cameron Metcalf (Pharmacology And Toxicology), and Dr. Shervin Rahimpour (Neurosurgery), Chen Lab was awarded a 2023 Program Project Planning grant by the University of Utah’s Immunology, Inflammation, & Infectious Disease (3i) Initiative. Collaboratively, the team will champion and build a comprehensive research program dedicated to the advancement of therapeutic strategies for epilepsy.
