The Pharmacology and Toxicology Department has several department resources for Post Docs, and is always looking for ways to better support our trainees.
Each PHTX Post Doc is invited to present a Research in Progress Seminar annually, and as appropriate, practice job talks.
Please fill out a New Post Doc form when you join the department. If you would like to update your photo or provide a research update for the department website, please fill out the corresponding forms, linked below.
Initial Onboarding and beyond resource information, including travel and travel funding, reimbursement policies, and university mental health, benefits, public safety, and more information.
Resources regarding grant funding and grant funding opportunities, networking, and improving teaching skills
Please contact Dr. Bia DePaula Silva , PHTX Post Doc Faculty Advisor, and/or Julie Callahan, the PHTX Office contact for Post Docs if you have any questions.
Each post doc receives $800 from the department for travel each fiscal year (July 1, 20254-June 30, 2065.) This is separate from support your PI provides.
If you plan to travel, please fill out the PHTX Travel Form and Julie can help book your travel. Please note that you will not be reimbursed for any travel until after you have traveled. Refer to the Onboarding documents for more information on travel, including the COP Per Diem policy for food.
Please apply for travel funding from the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs—a one-time source:
COP Post Doc Fellowship Incentive Program: If you have an outside fellowship (NIH, industry, etc.) that was awarded after January 1 2023, you are eligible for a bonus payment of $3,000. If it is a multi-year fellowship, you are eligible on the anniversary of the award each year you are funded. Note: Internal University T32 programs are not included in this incentive program.
Please note that Post Doc leave policies and benefits are different than traditional staff benefits. If you plan to take vacation or sick leave, please fill out the Post Doc Leave Form.
Post Doc Vacation and Sick Leave: If you're a Postdoctoral Scholar with a 0.75 FTE or greater appointment in the 9205, 9213, and 9258 Postdoctoral Fellow or 9210 and 9211 Postdoctoral Research Associate job codes, you're entitled to 15 days of vacation per year. This vacation time doesn't accrue and is renewed on your anniversary date of hire. You also accumulate sick time at a rate of 8 hours per month, up to a maximum of 1040 hours, until the end of your employment. Neither vacation nor sick leave is eligible for payout when you leave the job. Departments must keep track of vacation and sick time internally.
