Learning looks different now than it did in the 1900s, so why shouldn’t our classrooms?

Bring classroom learning back to the College of Pharmacy Skaggs Hall
Over the years, College of Pharmacy classrooms have migrated to adjacent buildings due to space and technology constraints. The classrooms you remember, where generations of students learned pharmacy, have been underutilized because they are outdated and don’t fit today’s learning model. We seek donor investment to bring these classrooms back to life.
There is true value in having pharmacy students learn inside the College of Pharmacy building—especially within the historic Skaggs Hall, where generations of pharmacists have learned their profession. Help us bring Pharmacy students back to the College of Pharmacy building, where they can build their community and network.
Classroom Transformation
Learning looks different now than it did in the 1960s, yet the classrooms in Skaggs Hall haven’t significantly changed over the last 60 years. Our renovation plans include:
- New, comfortable seating with computer workspaces
- Modern technology (projection system, smart screens, speakers)
- Updated lighting and improved acoustics
- Refreshed paint and new flooring
“I learned in these classrooms 35 years ago, and they haven’t changed a bit. My dream is to bring them back to life and bring our students home to the college.”
—Jim Ruble, PharmD ’94, JD ’02
Executive Associate Dean, College of Pharmacy
Computer Lab

The renovation offers the opportunity to create an updated and welcoming student computer lab. The computer lab will provide students with access to on-site computers and a printer/copier/scanner, which many don’t have in their homes. This space will also serve as a social hub for our students and student groups, enhancing the learning experience and sense of community. The space will include:
- Computer stations (4-6)
- Free printer/copier/scanner
- Storage and supply station for student organizations
Naming Opportunities Available
Invest in future generations of pharmacy education by naming a classroom or the computer lab. Please contact Laura Thomas for more information.
