INVEST THROUGH A SCHOLARSHIP
Investing in University of Utah College of Pharmacy students through a scholarship transforms the educational experience. Scholarships allow students time to participate in extracurricular activities such as campus events, service projects, and research initiatives. Scholarships also make it possible for students to work less while in school, which significantly increases their success and likelihood of graduating.
About the Program
In 2023, the University of Utah College of Pharmacy launched the First Year Free Scholarship program with support from many donors, including The ALSAM Foundation, founded by L. S. and Aline W. Skaggs.
First Year Free is the first program of its kind in the nation and ensures University of Utah PharmD students begin their journey of becoming a pharmacist at no cost their first year.
Support First Year Free
We seek donor support to ensure this innovative program will continue to support First Year PharmD students in perpetuity.
Support for First Year Free goes further with a match from the College of Pharmacy and the University of Utah. Your support doesn’t just double—it triples in impact, directly benefiting our students. Donors like you can help shape the next generation of health care leaders, empowering our students to lead, innovate, and improve the well-being of our community and beyond.
Please consider making a gift today to inspire tomorrow’s pharmaceutical leaders.

About the Program
Scholarships awarded by the College of Pharmacy Alumni Board.
College of Pharmacy, Alumni Association Board Scholarship
Give TodayThe College of Pharmacy welcomes scholarship support for our students. You may create your own scholarship and fund it annually, through an endowment, with a gift from your will or estate plan, or with a combination of these funding options. A scholarship can honor family, friends, or someone meaningful in your life by creating a legacy for future generations in their name.
To meet federal criteria for charitable gifts, donors are not able to direct the scholarship to a specific recipient(s).
Scholarship Funding Options
- Annually Funded Scholarship $5,000+
- Endowed Scholarship $25,000+
Endowed scholarships are designed to be permanent and perpetual. An endowment can be established with a gift of at least $25,000. The University of Utah will invest the gift and after a maturing period of one year, a percentage of the endowment’s earnings will be awarded to students each year, in perpetuity.
