Application Checklist
- Online SLATE Application (including a separate transcript for each institution you have previously attended)
- BA or BS in a STEM field
- Career Goals Statement: How will a MS in Pharmacology and Toxicology help you achieve your career goals (500 words)
- Personal Statement: 1-2 pages outlining your background, research or project interests, academic and career goals, and reasons for applying to our graduate program
- CV: 1-2 pages, including academic training/educational history, teaching and research experience, awards and distinctions, conference presentations, and publications
- 3 Letters of Recommendation (will be submitted by recommenders via SLATE)

MS Program Application Guidelines
Graduate School Admissions Criteria:
Students in post-baccalaureate programs at the University of Utah are admitted by the Graduate School. Programs and Departments may refer or recommend students for admission. Applicants must meet minimum requirements as established by the Graduate School as follows:
- A completed bachelor’s degree issued by either a regionally accredited, four-year U.S. institution or a comparable institution recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education in one’s home country.
- A 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA in the undergraduate career, or otherwise demonstrable academic readiness for graduate-level studies
- Sufficient proficiency in the English language (international applicants only)

Pharmacology and Toxicology Department Criteria:
Students meeting the minimal requirements for the University of Utah Graduate School may be evaluated by the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology for prerequisites for consideration for the MS program. The prerequisites for this consideration include:
- Baccalaureate degree in Biology, Physiology, Chemistry, Neuroscience, or related area, completed before the start of the MS Program.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale with a strong performance in Biology, Chemistry or related areas.

This is a paid training program ($35,000 a year stipend + health insurance + tuition) for recent college graduates from underrepresented backgrounds who are interested in applying to PhD programs in the neurosciences.
