Question: Do you offer a Masters degree in your department?

At this time, our faculty are only interested in students pursuing Ph.D. Degrees.

Question: Do you accept other types of evaluation Tests of English as a Foreign Language instead of the TOEFL?

Yes. The University of Utah accepts various forms of demonstrating English proficiency depending on your previous education, country of origin, and proficiency tests (IELTS, etc.). For more details, please consult the University of Utah Admission’s Office page on English proficiency.

Question: Does your department offer paid graduate tuition or fellowships?

A limited number of University and Department Fellowships are offered on a competitive basis to exceptionally well-qualified applicants. You will be automatically considered for these awards on the basis of your application materials. You do not need to provide any additional information unless you are specifically requested to do so at a later time. Graduate tuition is paid by the Graduate School for full-time, supported graduate students who qualify for such benefits. Students are responsible for any extra fees, including international fees (if applicable) and for maintaining academic qualifications for graduate students in good standing.
