Notes
- If your institution offers a combined Anatomy/Physiology course, you must complete two semesters [Anatomy/Physiology I & II] or two 4 credit quarter hours [Anatomy/Physiology I, II]
- ** While only one of these courses is required, we recommend taking both a technical writing course and a public speaking course, as both skill sets are very valuable for success in the PharmD program.
- AP credit will only be accepted for the following courses through the College of Pharmacy only.
- Calculus: 4 or 5 on either the AB or BC test waives Calculus I
- Chemistry: 4 on waives CHEM 1210 only. 5 on waives CHEM 1210 & 1220
- Physics: 4 or 5 on the Physics C Mechanics test waives the Physics requirement
- Statistics: 4 or 5 on Statistics waives the requirement
- All pre-requisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.
- All prerequisite courses must be completed within 10 years prior to applying.
- Applicants must achieve a minimum Prerequisite GPA of 2.8
- All of the pre-required core science course work and general education course work can be taken at any school in the state of Utah. If applying from out of state, look for course equivalencies for the courses listed above. If unsure if a certain course will be accepted, please contact the Pharm.D Admissions office with the course description/syllabus.
- No more than three (3) of the Pre-Pharmacy required courses may be outstanding, or in progress on January 1st of the year you are applying. If attending an institution with a quarter system, than no more than four (4) pending courses.
- Courses accepted by the University of Utah are not automatically accepted by the College of Pharmacy Admissions Committee in fulfillment of pharmacy prerequisites.
- If the student is applying with a Bachelor's Degree, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 is also required for admission. However, the Admissions Committee will review any application with a GPA between a 2.75 and a 3.0. If an applicant's GPA is below a 3.0 the final decision of acceptance will be made by the Graduate School.
