Department of Pharmacotherapy Welcomes Three New Faculty Members This Summer/Fall
The Department of Pharmacotherapy is pleased to announce that Nathorn Chaiyakunapruk, PharmD, PhD, Daniel C. Malone, RPh, PhD, FAMCP, and Elizabeth Bald, PharmD will join the University of Utah College of Pharmacy as faculty this summer and fall.
Dr. Nathorn Chaiyakunapruk
Dr. Chaiyakunapruk, Professor, comes to the College from the Monash University School of Pharmacy in Malaysia. He is best known for his expertise in health technology assessment, health economics, evidence-based medicine, and outcomes research. He has extensive experience in using large databases to understand epidemiology, health care utilization patterns, and economic burden of disease. Dr. Chaiyakunapruk has published over 180 articles in the peer-reviewed literature and authored numerous book chapters and documents for the World Health Organization. He has an established track record as a mentor for PhD students and post-doctoral fellows.
Dr. Daniel C. Malone
Dr. Malone, Professor, comes to the College from the University of Arizona. His research interests include studies to reduce exposure to drug interactions, health technology assessment, health disparities, predictive modeling, prescription prices and insurance coverage. He has served as president of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research. He is also a fellow of the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education. He has published over 170 articles in the peer-reviewed literature and has authored two book chapters. Dr. Malone has a proven track record of NIH funding from agencies including the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, National Library of Medicine, National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute for Drug Abuse, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Dr. Elizabeth Bald
Dr. Bald, Assistant Professor (Clinical), comes to the College after completing a PGY2 Residency in Ambulatory Care at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She received her PharmD from Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with an Ambulatory Care focus at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Bald will establish a clinical practice at the Madsen Health Clinic. Her practice and research interests are focused on ambulatory care, policy and advocacy, diabetes, cardiology, and geriatrics.
