Meta-Analysis by Dr. Chaiyakunapruk Published in Cochrane Library
Our very own Nathorn (Nui) Chaiyakunapruk, PharmD, PhD, and Professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy, completed a network meta-analysis on systemic treatments for eczema that has recently been published in Issue 9, 2020 of the Cochrane Library.
Eczema is a common and chronic, relapsing, inflammatory skin disorder that seriously impacts quality of life. There are various treatments, however due to the limited number of trails the benefits of these treatments is unclear.
Dr. Chaiyakunapruk’s analysis includes 74 studies comparing various eczema treatments for efficacy against a placebo or other eligible eczema treatments. Their findings show that dupilumab is the most effective biological treatment for eczema within 16 weeks of treatment.
This extensive meta-analysis provides insightful findings on eczema treatments as well as the potential for future studies. Congratulations Dr. Chaiyakunapruk!
