Dr. Shawn Owen Helps Develop Innovative COVID-19 Antibody Test
Dr. Shawn Owen has been collaborating to develop an innovative COVID-19 antibody test with a Canadian research team. This assay reliably shows antibodies, but can also indicate how levels change over a period of time. It is less expensive than current tests and provides results quicker. This collaboration has resulted in a prestigious Nature Communications publication and has been highlighted by various platforms (Very Well Health and Nature - Bioengineering Community).
Dr. Owen has been very proactive in finding science-based solutions to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tests showing antibodies can be used long after people have been vaccinated, as new variants are continuing to be found. This technology could be used for other antibody testing, and is currently in discussions to commercialize this new tool in the fight against COVID-19.
