Karen Wilcox Receives June'22 GEM Award

Congratulations to Karen Wilcox, Recipient of the June 2022 GEM Recognition

Karen Wilcox

Our June GEM was nominated and praised on many fronts but one thing that threaded through all comments was her value for inclusion, diversity and compassion.

One nominator said, “Her leadership and compassion in helping the department adapt to the pandemic has been truly inspiring.  Her involvement in multiple diversity committees where she spoke up and voiced departmental support for diversity activities made the committee feel supported.”  Another said she “promotes equality for all and acts on it.”

Our GEM is no slouch in research either. As Director of the ADD Program, our GEM recently co-led a successful contract renewal effort that has secured a five-year $34 million contract from NIH.  Karen’s commitment to the College and her department demonstrate most vividly her value and compassion for people; her service in various arenas is a visible manifestation of our mission statement.

Congratulations to Karen Wilcox, Chair and Professor in Pharmacology and Toxicology and ADD Program Director!
