Abby Scott – Skaggs Fellowship Recipient
I started my PhD through the Biological Chemistry program in the Fall of 2020 and joined Jaclyn Winter’s lab in the Medicinal Chemistry department. My research is focused on the discovery of novel natural product compounds with antimicrobial potential. Specifically, I am interested in using actinobacteria isolated from Great Salt Lake sediment as a source for the discovery of ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptides (RiPPs) including the subfamilies of lasso peptides and linaridins.
