Hayam Giravi published her research project

Congratulations to Hayam Giravi, PharmD

Congratulations to Hayam Giravi, PharmD, our freshly graduated student, for publishing her PharmD research project on combining opioid-based analgesia with digital health technologies. She is the first and co-corresponding author on an article “Adjunct Digital Interventions Improve Opioid-Based Pain Management: Impact of Virtual Reality and Mobile Applications on Patient-Centered Pharmacy Care” published in Frontiers in Digital Health.  Here is the link to this open-access paper: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fdgth.2022.884047/full

Hayam’s PharmD research project was focused on reviewing randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of adjunct digital interventions (VR and mobile apps) for opioid-based analgesia. The goal of this collaborative article was to share awareness about integration of pharmacotherapies with digital therapeutics, and how such drug+digital combination therapies can impact patient-centered pharmacy care. This publication is very timely, given that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized to market a prescription digital therapeutic (virtual reality app, called RelieVRx) for chronic low back pain, as well as a prescription adjunct digital therapeutic (mobile medical app, reSET-O) in conjunction with buprenorphine for opioid use disorder (OUD).
