Dr. Hamid Ghandehari and undergraduate student Kylee McManus honored by the Office of Undergraduate Research
Congratulations to Dr. Hamid Ghandehari and Biology undergraduate student Kylee McManus (Goel Lab) for their recent honors by the Office of Undergraduate Research! Dr. Ghandehari was named the Outstanding Undergraduate Research Mentor for the College of Pharmacy, and Kylee the Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher for the College of Pharmacy.
Dr. Hamid Ghandehari’s letter of nomination from Dr. Carol Lim noted: “He is dedicated to giving students positive research experiences in his well-established lab, with capacity for training many students (from high school, undergraduates, to PhDs)… He has spent his whole career dedicated to expanding the opportunities for anyone interested in his research area. Dr. Ghandehari has shaped the lives of 41 University of Utah undergraduates that have worked in his lab and has led them to a love of research. His lab is a well-oiled enterprise where there are well qualified and enthusiastic scientists that help him deliver high quality, personalized mentoring.”
Kylee McManus has worked in Dr. Shreya Goel’s lab since 2022 and will graduate in May 2024 an Honors Bachelor of Science in Biology with an emphasis on Anatomy & Physiology. In Dr. Goel’s lab she worked closely with graduate student Neetu Singh to synthesize ultrasmall silica nanoparticles for use in cancer theranostics. Kylee is also involved with the Honors College as a peer mentor, sat on the Core Team for It’s On Us, and was a teaching assistant for a variety of Chemistry and Biology courses. She will start her PharmD degree at the University of Utah in Fall 2024.
