Makoto Kondo and Collaborators Published in Cartilage
Congratulations to Dr. Makoto Kondo (Adjunct Assistant Professor, Molecular Pharmaceutics) and collaborators, whose paper Regenerative Variability of Human Juvenile Chondrocyte Sheets From Different Cell Donors in an Athymic Rat Knee Chondral Defect Model was recently published in Cartilage.
The study developed a histological assessment system to evaluate cartilage regeneration in a rat model treated with human juvenile cartilage-derived chondrocyte (JCC) sheets from various donors. Findings showed that histological score variations correlated with the quality of regenerated cartilage and subchondral bone remodeling, suggesting potential for personalized treatment strategies in regenerative medicine. This research may enhance donor selection and lead to targeted therapies, improving outcomes for cartilage injuries and conditions like osteoarthritis.
