P3 Class Update from Myrna and Kim
Dear Alumni and Donors,
Hello! Our names are Myrna and Kim, and we are excited to bring you an update from the P3 class at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy. We've had a rewarding and eventful year so far, and we’re grateful for the chance to share some of our experiences with you in this Alumni and Donor newsletter.
As best friends, we’ve been navigating this pharmacy school journey together, making the most of every opportunity along the way. From late nights of studying to fun activities, we try to do as much as we can side by side. It’s been a year full of challenges and growth, and we’re eager to tell you about some of our highlights.
A Tough but Rewarding First Semester

The first semester of our third year was challenging, with long nights and countless study sessions in our study groups. But we powered through together, and one of the highlights was getting involved with the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP). We had the opportunity to attend the AMCP Nexus conference with our classmates, and it was an amazing experience! We learned more about managed care pharmacy and had the chance to network with pharmacists and other professionals in the field.
Giving Back to the Community

We’re also passionate about volunteering and community outreach. This past year, we worked with the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) to educate the community about diabetes and the importance of maintaining healthy blood pressure levels. It was a rewarding experience, and we were grateful for the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.
PharmD Projects and Early Mornings

Like many of our classmates, we decided to work on a PharmD project this year with faculty. It’s been a fantastic experience so far, allowing us to collaborate and dive deeper into areas of pharmacy that excite us. We often arrive on campus by 7:30 AM to secure parking and get a head start on our day. This routine has become part of our journey, as it gives us dedicated time to make progress on our projects. We’re looking forward to submitting our abstracts and presenting our hard work at an upcoming conference.
Looking Ahead: Fourth Year/APPE Rotations
We’ve just submitted our rankings for our APPE (Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience) rotations, and we are both nervous and excited to see where we’ll be gaining hands-on experience in various pharmacy settings. It’s a big step in our education, and we can’t wait to take everything we’ve learned in the classroom into real-world practice.
A Heartfelt Thank You
On behalf of Kim, Myrna, and the entire P3 class, we want to extend a huge thank you to all of the amazing donors who give to the College of Pharmacy. It was such a pleasure meeting a few of you at the annual scholarship celebration. Your generous contributions have made it possible for us to participate in activities that help our community and bring us one step closer to our dreams of becoming pharmacists. The scholarships we’ve received have allowed us to focus on our education, volunteer work, and projects without the constant worry of financial stress.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, and we look forward to continuing our journey toward becoming healthcare professionals who make a positive impact on the world.
With sincere gratitude,
Myrna & Kim
