Dr. Karen Gunning Appointed Chair of the 2020 Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) Board of Directors
The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) has announced their officers for the 2020 Board of Directors. One of whom is our own Karen Gunning! The other two chairs for the 2020 Board of Directors are BPS Chair-Elect Hal E. Richards, PharmD, BCNSP, and BPS Immediate Past Chair Peter G. Koval, PharmD, BCPS, CPP.
Dr. Gunning, PharmD, BCPS, BCACP, currently holds appointments as Associate Dean of Community Engagement, Professor of Pharmacotherapy, and Adjunct Professor of Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy and School of Medicine. Dr. Gunning is dual certified in both Pharmacotherapy and Ambulatory Care. She is a Past Chair of the BPS Pharmacotherapy Specialty Council. Dr. Gunning’s clinical practice is at the University of Utah Sugarhouse Health Center, a residency training site for the University of Utah Family Medicine Residency Program. She provides direct patient care services for chronic disease management as a part of an interprofessional team, teaches pharmacy and medical students, and is the program director of the University of Utah Health PGY-2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency.
