U of U Health Ambulatory Pharmacy Internship Opportunity

The University of Utah Health Greenwood Pharmacy, Home Infusion Pharmacy, and Pharmacy Ambulatory Clinical Care Center (PAC3) are offering a unique internship opportunity for incoming P3 students.  Interns will have the opportunity to train and practice at all 3 practice sites, with responsibilities progressing as interns progress through the pharmacy school curriculum.  This internship program will include structured interactions with pharmacy technicians and pharmacists, as well as patients.  Greenwood Pharmacy is located in Midvale, and Home Infusion and PAC3 are located in Murray.

Greenwood pharmacy provides unique opportunities to learn community pharmacy practice while participating as part of the provider teams for the services offered at the clinic.  Interns will provide patient counseling, prepare and dispense medications for the pharmacy in addition to improving population health measures and providing evidence based interventions to improve treatment plans for specific patients while working directly with providers and nursing staff.

Home infusion pharmacy provides opportunities to learn and participate in all aspects of home infusion, including sterile compounding, dispensing, care coordination, clinical management, and patient counseling.

PAC3 is a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who deliver high quality centralized pharmacy services for the University Of Utah Health Care system, including Specialty Pharmacy Services, Centralized Refill Authorization, Pharmacy Services Call Center, and Transitions of Care.  Interns have the opportunity to work closely with transplant patients, coordinating refills and providing counseling while resolving any concerns.

The unique pharmacy services offered at all 3 sites provide value to patients and clinics alike.

Please reach out to Ashley Kappenman, Jamie Slade or Davis Moore for more information or with any questions.
