ARUP Laboratories, Inc. internship opportunity available for Pharmacy (PharmD/PhD)
ARUP Laboratories, Inc. has an internship opportunity available for Pharmacy (PharmD/PhD) students in what is a non-traditional setting for a pharmacist. The workforce is getting highly competitive for pharmacists as more graduate from Pharmacy School. This internship with a reference lab will help your resume to stand out. It also allows you expand your experience and exposure to different areas of practice.
There has always been a close tie between Pharmacy and Lab as drug therapy is often dependent on lab results (peaks, troughs, genetic variations). Within a reference lab there are many opportunities for pharmacists to make contribution. Labs perform drug-related tests every day, from determining drug concentrations to identifying genetic variations that will affect drug therapy. This is your chance to gain more insight into lab activities. This internship will have a heavy focus in pharmacogenetics, which is a rapidly growing field and aspect of patient-specific therapy. This is a new and growing role for pharmacists and the internship will provide a rare opportunity for students.
