The Informatics Core of the Center of Excellence for Natural Product Drug Interaction (NaPDI)

Natural Product-Drug Interaction Summer Internship Available. The Informatics Core of the Center of Excellence for Natural Product Drug Interaction (NaPDI) Research is currently recruiting for 2 summer internship positions. Apply by May 18th, 2018.

Description: The candidates will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to develop new content and validate existing content for a new natural product-drug interaction data repository. The content will come from drug metabolism/pharmacokinetic and analytical chemistry studies completed by the NaPDI Center, other natural product research laboratories, and from studies already published in the literature. The candidates will also 1) provide input on the development of a public website that disseminates natural product-drug interaction data; 2) help develop a recommended approach document for making the data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR); and 3) draft clinical annotations for specific natural product-drug interactions.

Requrements: Candidates should have a strong drug metabolism/pharmacokinetic data analysis background and an interest in informatics. This is a great opportunity for individuals who have recently completed a PharmD or PhD in a Pharmacology related field. Consideration will be given to individuals late in their PharmD or PhD training provided they have sufficient knowledge and experience. The candidate must be comfortable with participation in web meetings since the project will be managed remotely by a multidisciplinary team of advisors.

  • Duration: 8 weeks, 37.5 hour work week
  • Location: This job can be conducted remotely from the candidate's location. If desired by the candidate, physical space can be made available at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh PA; Indiana University in Indianapolis, IN; or at Washington State University, Spokane, WA.
  • Dates: June 4th through July 27th, 2018
  • Compensation: Participants receive an hourly rate commensurate with the professional nature of the work. Interns are responsible for travel, housing, food, health insurance, and living expenses.

Red Rock Pharmacy is still hiring incoming P1 students!

We are the largest growing closed door pharmacy in the area and provide a wide range of opportunities!  What is a closed door pharmacy? We specifically provide services to contracted facilities such as skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, hospice, and infusion centers.  We provide our students opportunities for non-sterile compounding, sterile antibiotic compounding, antipsychotic medication consultations, and more!

We are looking for motivated students that are interested in learning a wide set of pharmacy skills!  We want students that are fast learners and not afraid to ask questions.  Previous pharmacy technician experience is preferred but not required.  Red Rock Pharmacy is located just a few minutes from campus with a TRAX stop just a block away and we provide flexible work scheduling.

Summary: An intern pharmacist is responsible for, under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, checking prescription orders as they are filled by the technician staff, checking for possible harmful interactions among patient(s)’ drug therapies, completing record-keeping duties, overseeing the completion of prescription orders, and providing patient counseling.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Help patients and healthcare providers by greeting them in person and by phone; answering questions and requests.

  • Verifying technicians’ preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, assembly, charges, and inspections; assist pharmacy technicians as needed.

  • Order, sell, and control other stock pertaining to patient medical needs.

  • Achieve knowledge base of compounding sufficient to check compounded prescription orders and counsel patients under the supervision of a pharmacist.

  • Provide pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patients on drug therapies and medical equipment.

  • Perform immunizations.

  • Comply with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

  • Protect patients and pharmacy staff by adhering to infection-control protocols.

  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Enrolled in PharmD program by Fall Semester 2018

Physical Requrements: Good hand-eye coordination, ability to use a computer keyboard, fax machine, communicate by telephone, and lift up to 30lb.

Appearance: Casual business attire that reflects positively on University Pharmacy, with a lab coat and name/position visible to the public is required. Frayed or torn clothing, and open toed shoes are not permitted.

Utah Health Redwood Clinic Pharmacy, Interns

Incoming P1s, University of Utah Health Redwood Clinic Pharmacy is looking to hire an intern from the class of 2022. The position is 15 to 20 hours per week and we'd like someone that is able to start this summer. Intern shifts are available between 9 am and 9 pm, 7 days a week. We are a health clinic with an urgent care center that is open until 9 daily. The pharmacy stays until the last patient leaves, which can be as late as 10:30 pm. We are open holidays too, so there are lots of opportunities for hours. The lead intern does the scheduling and is very flexible with school schedules and willing to accommodate time off requests. We have a very supportive intern team and we would love to interview anyone that is interested.
